The new bill authored by State Rep. Shelia Stubbs in the Wisconsin Assembly seeks to extend a grant program that supports community-oriented policing initiatives in larger cities, according to the Wisconsin State Assembly.

In essence, this bill amends the 2023 Wisconsin Act 19 to extend the sunset date of the community-oriented policing-house grant program. Under current law, this program, which provides grants to cities with populations of at least 30,000 to support community policing initiatives, was set to expire on July 1, 2025. The bill extends the program by changing the expiration date to July 1, 2027.
