On September 29, Principal Michael Marincic of Token Springs Elementary School fulfilled a promise to his students by spending the night on the school’s rooftop. The event was part of a celebration after students exceeded their fundraising target during the annual Terrapin Trot Fun Run.
The original goal for the fundraiser was $25,000, set to support family events organized by the School Community Organization of Token Springs (SCOTS). Students surpassed this goal in just ten days. In response, Principal Marincic honored his commitment to camp out on the roof as a reward.
This year’s fundraiser also had an expanded focus. SCOTS pledged that any remaining funds would go toward supporting the district-wide Sun Prairie Area School Community Organization (SPASCO), which aims to provide similar experiences for families across all elementary and middle schools in Sun Prairie.
Principal Marincic stated, “Our Terrapins set a big goal this year—to raise $25,000 during this year's Terrapin Trot Fun Run—and they not only met our goal, but far surpassed it, and did so in only 10 days! To celebrate, I’m keeping my promise and spending the night on the roof of Token Springs. This fundraiser not only supports the amazing family events our SCOTS hosts here at Token Springs, but also helps strengthen SPASCO, our new district-wide School Community Organization, so families across Sun Prairie’s elementary schools can enjoy similar experiences. I’m so proud of our students, families, and community for making this possible.”
