UW-Madison experts offer insights ahead of major political conventions this summer

The Midwest will play a significant role in the 2024 election, with Milwaukee hosting the Republican National Convention in July and Chicago welcoming the Democratic National Convention in August. Experts from the University of Wisconsin–Madison are available to provide insights into Wisconsin politics and analysis on national and state races, polling, debates, and key voter issues.

**Political Science**

Barry Burden, professor of political science and director of the Elections Research Center, can discuss swing states in the Electoral College, voter turnout, Wisconsin politics, political advertising, and public perception of political parties.

**Wisconsin Economy and Family Finance**

Menzie Chinn is an economist at the La Follette School of Public Affairs. He can comment on inflation; both Wisconsin's and the national economy; interest rates; and fiscal policy.

Erin Barbato is director of the Immigrant Justice Clinic at UW Law School. She can comment on topics including immigration through Darién Gap as well as children’s detention related to family immigration.
