Today marks the commencement of absentee voting for hospitalized voters, a process available until 5 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, August 13.
Hospitalized voters can start by appointing an agent and requesting a hospitalized absentee ballot. The appointed agent is responsible for delivering the absentee request to the Clerk’s Office and must present both their ID and a copy of the voter’s ID. If registration or updating registration is necessary, the agent also submits a voter registration application and proof of the voter's address to the Clerk's Office.
The agent then delivers the ballot to the voter at the hospital. After marking their ballot and completing the certificate envelope, the voter returns it with the help of their agent to the Clerk’s Office. All absentee ballots are subsequently sent to polling stations for counting on Election Day.
"The goal of the City Clerk’s Office is that each eligible voter will be able to cast a ballot and have that ballot counted."
