Madison College-Truax Campus held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on September 17 to celebrate a new expansion project aimed at training workers for careers in high-demand surgical and healthcare fields.
The $3.7 million renovation provides Surgical Technology program students with real-life experiences in operating rooms, clinics, and hospital spaces.
"This cutting-edge simulation lab recreates real-life workplace scenarios, empowering students with invaluable experience and fostering confidence," said Madison College Provost Beth Giles-Klinkner. "As we advance our surgical tech associate degree program, our students will be exceptionally well-prepared to fulfill the urgent workforce demands in this critical health care field."
The Surgical Technology program and Health Simulation Center expansion now offer over 10,000 square feet of dedicated learning space for students and instructors.
During the open house, guests toured the new facilities with hands-on demonstrations of surgical and simulation equipment. Students shared their experiences in Madison College’s newly equipped classrooms.
The Surgical Technology program expansion includes four new surgical suites, a sterile hallway, dedicated storage, and a control station. The Health Simulation Center renovated six existing hospital rooms and added two additional exam rooms, an extra debriefing room, expanded storage, a reconfigured collaborative care station, dedicated faculty offices, a reconfigured pharmacy and supply room, and a standardized participant green room.
Madison College’s Surgical Technology program and Health Simulation Center are shaping the future of healthcare training.
