The State Street Pedestrian Mall experiment, which began in May and closed the 400-600 blocks of State Street to all non-emergency vehicle traffic, will conclude on October 30. This initiative allowed pedestrians and cyclists to use the street space freely.

During the experiment, non-emergency vehicles were prohibited from using the designated blocks after 3:00 pm on weekdays and after 10:00 am on weekends. These restrictions will end on October 31.

Madison’s Central Business Improvement District (BID) organized several community events throughout the summer for this pedestrian space. These events included musical performances and family-oriented activities.
