The City of Madison has initiated a new project aimed at expanding affordable homeownership opportunities with the groundbreaking of a "Missing Middle" development. This project is located on the southeast side of the city.

Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway, along with Ald. Jael Currie, local developer Kaba Bah, and representatives from the Madison Area Community Land Trust, gathered on Thursday to mark the beginning of construction. The project will introduce new duplexes in the Owl Creek neighborhood, offering multiple families a chance for stability and financial security for future generations.

This development was facilitated by a $600,000 investment from Madison's Affordable Housing Fund, part of the city's capital budget. Additionally, the city's Economic Development Division sold land to Kaba Bah and the Madison Area Community Land Trust for $1.
