Scheduled brush collection from the curb has concluded for 2024. Residents are advised not to place any brush out for pickup at this time, as all neighborhoods have received their scheduled collections. The service will resume in the spring of 2025.
Madison residents can utilize the Streets Division drop-off sites for disposing of brush they have cut themselves. Proof of residency is required to use these facilities. Each resident is limited to one trip per day, with a maximum load equivalent to what fits in a standard pickup truck bed or on a 5’ x 8’ trailer. Oversized loads and contractors are prohibited from using these free drop-off sites.
For more information on site locations, hours, and restrictions, residents can visit the city's drop-off sites page at www.cityofmadison.com/DropOffSites.
Residents are reminded not to mix brush into fall leaf piles, as mixed piles will not be collected. Brush is defined as branches or limbs that measure at least 18 inches in length but shorter than 8 feet long and with a diameter less than 8 inches. This material is processed into mulch using a wood chipper.
Yard waste and leaves differ from brush; they consist of softer plant material gathered from lawns or gardens and are sent to a private facility for composting. Piles containing both yard waste and brush will not be collected by yard waste crews.
