Alder John Guequierre of District 19 is set to host the third session of the D19 Exploring the 2025 Budget Series on Wednesday, October 16. This virtual session will delve into budget cut scenarios and their potential impacts, focusing on service reductions in key city departments such as Fire, Police, Library, and Streets.
Alder Guequierre will be joined by MFD Chief Carbon, MPD Chief Barnes, Library Director Elias, and Streets Director Romines. Together, they will discuss possible service reductions within their departments. The session will also address the city's budget deficit, its causes, and potential solutions. Key takeaways from previous sessions will be reviewed for those who missed them.
Residents are encouraged to participate in a Q&A segment at the end of the session. Questions can be submitted verbally or in writing during the event or emailed in advance to Alder Guequierre at district19@cityofmadison.com.
An online survey has been created by Alder Guequierre to engage residents in considering what services are expendable versus essential. The survey is available at www.cityofmadison.com/D19ServiceReductionSurvey.
