Wednesday marks the last opportunity for Wisconsin residents to register to vote online or by mail ahead of the upcoming General Election on November 5. The Madison City Clerk’s Office urges voters to verify their registration status at https://MyVote.wi.gov. Individuals who have recently moved, even within the same building, must update their voter registration details.

Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway emphasized the significance of voting: “Voting is one of our most important democratic responsibilities and rights. Especially in the current climate of efforts to restrict the ability to vote, it’s important that we all exercise the fundamental rights that generations of Americans fought so hard to attain. Don’t lose the opportunity to make your voice heard – register to vote today!”

Voter registration remains open at absentee voting locations from October 22 through November 1 and will also be available on Election Day at polling stations. Registrants are required to present proof of address, which may be electronic, with documents such as a utility bill, bank statement, valid Wisconsin driver license/ID, government document, paycheck, residential lease (except when registering by mail), certified housing list from UW-Madison or Edgewood College accompanied by a college ID, affidavit from a social service agency for homeless services, or contract/intake document from a nursing home.

The City Clerk’s Office aims for every eligible voter to cast a ballot and ensure its count.
