Each autumn, the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus transforms into a vibrant display of fall colors. Ivy-covered buildings become canvases for nature's artwork, and trees such as maples and oaks create colorful canopies overhead. The season is captured in a series of photographs taken by the Office of Strategic Communication photographers.
One image features a jogger running along the Howard Temin Lakeshore Path near Picnic Point on October 18th, photographed by Bryce Richter. Another photo shows a cyclist silhouetted against the fall colors while crossing East Campus Mall near the Nicholas Recreation Center, also captured by Richter.
Paige Valley from UW–Madison photographed Moore Hall, where ivy displays autumn hues. On the same day, Bryce Richter captured a pedestrian walking through vibrant leaves near Witte Residence Hall.
Other images include cyclists on West Johnson Street and along Lakeshore Path at dusk, taken by Althea Dotzour. Dotzour also photographed two pedestrians in matching sweaters enjoying an evening stroll on Park Street.
Bryce Richter's photography further illustrates autumn's presence across campus with shots of sidewalks near Vilas Hall and pedestrians walking among trees changing color along Lake Mendota Path near Picnic Point. Additionally, he captured a female mallard duck swimming through fall foliage on Lake Mendota's eastern shore.
Jeff Miller contributed with an image showing people moving to and from Sellery Residence Hall amidst changing leaves. Finally, another photo by Bryce Richter depicts pedestrians crossing West Johnson Street under headlights as night falls earlier with shorter days.
The collection offers viewers an opportunity to appreciate the seasonal changes that define this time of year at UW-Madison.
