Alder Nasra Wehelie of District 7 has announced a Lunch and Learn event scheduled for November 21 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. The event aims to provide information on business financial support programs, citywide grants and loans, and other resources offered by the City of Madison to support entrepreneurs, small business owners, and individuals interested in starting their own businesses.

Since 2023, Alder Wehelie has been hosting these sessions to inform Madison residents about services and programs available through the City of Madison. Small business and entrepreneurial opportunities are frequently requested topics. "Madison's economic growth thrives when we prioritize inclusivity, innovation, and sustainable practices. As a member of the Madison Common Council and the Economic Development Committee, my commitment to Madison's economic development is to build a stronger, more resilient economy that uplifts our small and minority businesses," she stated.

The session will include expert speakers from the Office of Business Resources: Saran Ouk, Manager; Ruth Rohlich, Business Development Specialist; and Michael Miller, Business Development Specialist. Participants will gain insights into small business resources, staff contacts, and actionable tips crucial for overcoming challenges and fostering growth.

“Our office receives hundreds of inquiries on how to start and grow their businesses each year and we are happy to partner with Alder Wehelie to help provide information and resources at this lunch and learn,” said Saran Ouk. “Small businesses are finding new and innovative ways to provide products and services to our Madison community. We are seeing more demand for technical assistance, business mentorship, and financial assistance. Our team is constantly looking for ways we can continue to support our small businesses as they are a vital part of our economy.”

The event will include a Q&A session where attendees can ask questions or give feedback verbally or via chat. Questions can also be submitted in advance by emailing Lorissa Bañuelos at lbanuelos@cityofmadison.com with "D7 Lunch and Learn" in the subject line.

This free event is open to all residents but requires advance registration at www.cityofmadison.com/LunchandLearnD7. Attendees will receive login details upon registration.
