The University of Wisconsin–Madison has announced support resources for students and employees affected by the recent school shooting at Abundant Life Christian School on Madison's Far East Side. The tragic event occurred on December 16, prompting the university to extend condolences to those impacted in the Madison community.
In response to the incident, which is under investigation by the Madison Police Department, UW-Madison emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to public safety. The shooting did not take place near downtown Madison or on the university campus.
Students can access counseling and crisis support through University Health Services by calling (608) 265-5600. Immediate assistance is available via the UHS Crisis Line at option 9. Additionally, students may reach out to the Office of Student Assistance and Support.
Faculty and staff are encouraged to contact the Employee Assistance Office at (608) 263-2987 for appointments if they wish to discuss this or other matters. For round-the-clock counseling, employees can contact LifeMatters at 800-634-6433.
