The Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District Board of Education has welcomed Jim Coursey as its newest member. Coursey was sworn in on December 16, 2024, to represent Area IV. He moved to Middleton with his family in 2023 and brings extensive public service experience to the board.

"Education is the reason I moved my family to Middleton," Coursey stated. His connection to the district is personal, with his eldest daughter attending Middleton High School and his younger daughter enrolled at Kromrey Middle School. The family also hosts two foreign exchange students, one at MHS and another at Clark Street Community School.

Coursey's career spans nearly three decades in public service, focusing on program development and community support. He previously served as Director of the Horizons Institute, managing continuing education programs for foster and adoptive parents that emphasized early childhood development and effective parenting techniques for children in crisis.

Reflecting on his daughters' experiences within the district, Coursey said, "Both are thriving because of the care, encouragement, and attention they receive from their teachers and the whole MCPASD community."

Coursey's term on the board will continue until the April election.
