After 11 and a half years at the helm of Madison College, President Jack E. Daniels III has celebrated his final commencement and the launch of the Early Learning Campus Goodman South initiative. Reflecting on his tenure, Daniels shared insights into his leadership style and future plans.

On December 10, Daniels joined Madison College partners to announce the opening of the Goodman South Early Learning Campus in January 2025. He described the day as "a 15" on a scale of 1-10, acknowledging the project's long development involving numerous organizations and individuals.

Daniels is known for engaging with students through campus walks, inspired by his belief that leaders should not be seen as distant figures. "I want people to feel comfortable talking with me," he said, emphasizing the importance of informal interactions in understanding student needs.

Madison College's commitment to community service was highlighted by Daniels, who noted that it serves many students overlooked by traditional institutions. "We provide them with skills and learning to pursue a career at a high-paying wage," he stated, adding that transfer students from Madison College often outperform native university students academically.

Reflecting on challenges faced during his presidency, Daniels cited managing through a pandemic without losing direction as significant. His leadership philosophy is shaped by mentors and parents, summed up in the principle: "Treat others how I would like to be treated."

Looking ahead, Daniels plans to move to Atlanta and continue exploring new opportunities guided by faith. Travel remains a passion for him, with Egypt and West Africa among destinations of interest due to their historical significance.

In parting words, Daniels expressed confidence in Madison College's ongoing mission: "There are good people here who will continue getting things done because the job is never finished."
