The City of Madison has declared a snow emergency to facilitate the removal of snow from streets. This declaration brings into effect alternate side parking rules citywide, including within the Snow Emergency Zone.

The alternate side parking is enforced from 1:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. On the night of February 16th into the morning of February 17th, residents are instructed to park on the side of the street with odd-numbered houses. The following night, February 17th into the morning of February 18th, parking should be on the even-numbered side. It is important for drivers to adhere to all posted parking regulations as well.

Failure to comply with these winter parking rules will result in a $60 fine, and vehicles may also incur a $115 towing fee if removed. Residents can call the winter parking hotline at 608-261-9111 for recorded information regarding alternate side parking.

During this snow emergency, free overnight parking is available in City garages with cashiers from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. However, entering before or leaving after these times will incur standard parking fees for any extra time spent in the garage. Parking is not allowed on top levels where plowing occurs or in metered areas; free parking applies only within cashiered sections.
