UW Health has been recognized once again in Newsweek's World’s Best Hospitals list. The University Hospital, part of UW Health, was named the top hospital in Wisconsin and ranked 27th nationwide. Globally, it secured the 145th position among the 250 best-ranked hospitals. Additionally, this year it was acknowledged as a leader in infection prevention.
The World’s Best Hospitals 2025 list evaluates hospitals across 30 countries using various criteria including standard of living, life expectancy, population size, number of hospitals, and data availability. Newsweek and Statista compiled the rankings based on four primary data sources: recommendations from medical experts via an online survey involving tens of thousands of healthcare professionals; patient satisfaction surveys; hospital quality metrics covering treatment quality, hygiene measures, patient safety, and waiting times; and a Statista survey on patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs).
Dr. Alan Kaplan, CEO of UW Health, expressed pride in their consistent recognition: “We’re very proud to be recognized on Newsweek’s World’s Best Hospitals 2025 list,” he stated. “For seven years now, we’ve shown that UW Health consistently provides the highest quality care for our patients in Wisconsin and beyond.”
The announcement of the award list took place on February 26.
