Superintendent Dr. Dana Monogue recently visited Elm Lawn Elementary School to engage with teachers and students about Women's History Month. During her visit, she met with first-grade teacher Miss Sophia Skaleris and students Audra, Alexis, and Luna to discuss the importance of learning about women's history and their female role models.
At Pope Farm Elementary School, a group of four fourth-grade students won the Best Instant Challenge award at the Wisconsin KidWind Challenge on March 1. The team, known as "Middleton Wind Whiskers," included Aarush Peddapati, Niranjana Nambisan, Rishaan Pulimamidi, and Mayukha Arun. They competed against over 70 teams statewide to design a wind turbine with the highest energy output.
MCPASD celebrated National School Breakfast Week from March 3-7 by highlighting its Nutrition Services Staff. Last year, 44 staff members served 110,930 breakfast meals throughout the district.
Governor Tony Evers visited Sunset Ridge Elementary School on March 7 during Literacy Week celebrations. He read to students and discussed ways to improve literacy rates. Earlier this year, Gov. Evers declared 2025 as the "Year of the Kid" in his State of the State address.
Middleton High School's Global Outreach Club held its annual dance on March 15 with an "Under the Sea" theme. The event raises funds for local organizations that support community needs.
In March, UW-Madison Dance Professor Karen McShane-Hellenbrand conducted a residency at Sauk Trail Elementary School. She worked with students during gym classes for two weeks in preparation for dance performances on March 20.
Fourth-grade students in Sauk Trail's Two-Way Immersion Program are creating bilingual posters to encourage animal adoption at Dane County Humane Society. This project began as a persuasive essay assignment and expanded into a broader initiative.
Arnav Vempati, a seventh-grader at Kromrey Middle School, is advancing to the Wisconsin State Spelling Bee on March 29 at Mitby Theater in Madison. The top three winners will move on to compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in May.
The district's Spring Break is scheduled for March 24-28. Students involved in athletics or extracurricular activities should check with advisers regarding any events during this period. Classes will resume on March 31.
March also marks National Social Work Month, during which MCPASD acknowledges its social workers' contributions in navigating complex situations and connecting families with essential resources.
