Madison, WI – Community Shares of Wisconsin is actively seeking new member nonprofits that align with its commitment to social justice issues such as diversity, equity, inclusion, sustainability, and LGBTQ+ rights. The organization plans to expand its network by adding 10 to 15 new members in 2025.
Community Shares of Wisconsin operates as a collaborative community of nearly 70 nonprofit organizations focused on addressing social, economic, and environmental challenges through grassroots activities, advocacy, research, and public education.
Member nonprofits benefit from fundraising opportunities like The Big Share—which has raised over $5.7 million since 2015—and other programs including the Community CHIP at Willy Street Co-op and the Community Round Up at Capitol Centre Market. These organizations receive all funds designated to them without restrictions on their use.
In addition to fundraising benefits, member nonprofits gain access to marketing opportunities through initiatives such as the Backyard Heroes program and the annual Community Change-Maker Awards. They can also promote their news and events via Community Shares' social media platforms and e-newsletters.
Training in various operational areas and access to a shared retirement plan are further advantages provided by Community Shares of Wisconsin. Member nonprofits receive guidance in marketing, operations management, recruitment strategies, and more.
Prospective members must have a demonstrated support base within Wisconsin and show a clear commitment to racial and social justice. Active participation in the organization's board and committees is required for membership.
Interested nonprofits should complete an interest form by July 18 at 4 pm. Virtual information sessions are scheduled for June 25 and July 16 on Microsoft Teams for those seeking additional details about membership applications.
