REAP Food Group is organizing "Collard Fest," a community event set for July 8 at Olbrich Gardens from 6 to 9 PM. The festival offers an opportunity to celebrate food, culture, and community connections. Attendees can enjoy West African and Caribbean cuisine prepared by local chefs, explore a farm stand with fresh produce from Firm Footing Farm, and engage in storytelling, music, and garden learning.

From 6:00 to 8:30 PM, visitors can savor dishes rooted in African diaspora foodways from vendors such as Traderoots (featuring Chef Yusuf Bin-Rella & REAP), Rasta Barista, and Woo’s Food to the Soul. The farm stand will offer fresh vegetables from Firm Footing Farm, which focuses on equity and experimentation in agriculture. Additionally, there will be opportunities to learn about companion plantings and pollinator activity in Olbrich’s Herb Garden.

A storytelling pop-up hosted by writer and educator Qwantese Winters will take place from 6:30 to 7:00 PM. This session will feature first memories of collard greens shared by Vivian King and Charles Payne.
