The City of Madison and the Community Development Authority (CDA) have started construction on the first phase of the “Taking Shape, Our Triangle” redevelopment project. A groundbreaking ceremony was held to mark the beginning of this long-planned effort.

The redevelopment focuses on the Triangle neighborhood, which is bordered by West Washington Avenue, South Park Street, and Regent Street. The area includes organizations such as the Bayview Foundation, Asian Midway Grocery Store, and several medical service providers. Over the next ten years, new buildings will be constructed to provide modern homes for current residents of CDA properties in the Triangle. The project also plans to add hundreds of new homes for people with a range of income levels in future phases.

Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway attended the event along with Governor Tony Evers, U.S. Representative Mark Pocan, Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority CEO and Executive Director Elmer Moore, and leaders from CDA.
