As the new academic year begins at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, students are returning to campus and resuming their studies. The university community is welcoming students back as they settle in for another year.

Some students have been involved in efforts to help a Wisconsin community recover from flooding, applying what they have learned in the classroom to real-world situations. In addition, a clinical trial at UW–Madison has allowed transplant patients to live without daily anti-rejection medication, representing a significant development in patient care.

The university’s School of Medicine and Public Health is also addressing the physician shortage in rural areas of Wisconsin. Shane Hoffman will become the first graduate of an accelerated program designed to reduce the time required to train doctors who plan to serve these communities.

The Office of Strategic Communication remains available for feedback or questions regarding university communications.
