Sun Prairie Area School District Superintendent Brad Saron (2023) | Sun Prairie Area School District
The Sun Prairie Area School District Board of Education has provided an update regarding ongoing investigations related to Sun Prairie West. The board acknowledged the community’s strong interest in these matters and stated that both a police criminal investigation and an independent employment investigation initiated by the board are still in progress.
The district announced it is releasing personnel records for former employee Robert Gilkey-Meisegeier, as its investigation into his employment has concluded and his employment has been terminated. In compliance with state law, certain information—such as materials protected by attorney-client privilege, personal identifiers like social security numbers, and information that would identify minors—has been withheld or redacted from these records. The released documents can be accessed on the district’s website alongside previous communications about this issue.
Records related to the ongoing independent employment investigation of current employees remain confidential under Wisconsin Statute § 19.36(10)(b), which prohibits disclosure of such information prior to the conclusion of an investigation unless specifically authorized or required by statute.
According to the board, “As previously communicated, the Board of Education retained an independent investigator to conduct an employment investigation. This investigator has the authority to conduct witness interviews and review any documentation deemed relevant to the investigation. Our investigator began work over two weeks ago and, when the investigation is complete, will report his findings directly to the Board.”
The board indicated it will continue to provide updates as new information becomes available. Community members with relevant information are encouraged to contact both the Sun Prairie Police Department and Attorney Sam Hall, who serves as the board’s independent investigator.
The message was signed by all current members of the SPASD Board of Education: Bryn Horton, Colleen Uhlenkamp, Amanda Davis, Melissa Grayson, Diana McFarland, and Isaac Sung.
