52 percent of applicants to the University of Wisconsin-Madison were admitted for fall 2018

At the University of Wisconsin-Madison, 96 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 51 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Madison enrolled 43,463 students in fall 2018, including 31,705 in undergraduate and 11,758 in graduate programs, data shows. 3.6 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

53 percent of undergraduates are residents of Wisconsin, and 39 percent are residents of other states. 8 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (70 percent) and Asian (6 percent).

The school admitted 52 percent of the 42,727 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 31 percent enrolled.
