Those living in senior living facilities are among a vulnerable population targeted by voter fraud.
Townhall News reported that it's easier to target seniors in one living facility than to go door-to-door.
"Senior living management are kind, caring people who likely have no idea the seniors they care for can be victimized by the ballot assistance volunteer they just let in the front door. They must confirm the legitimacy of anyone volunteering to help with senior voting," Townhall News said.
A bill was introduced by Sen. Duey Stroebel among others and went before the Committee on Elections, Election Process Reform and Ethics, where it failed by a 3-2 margin due to the chairwoman, Sen. Kathy Bernier voting with Democrat members.
Senate Bill 205 penalizes retirement home employees for influencing a resident’s decision about whether to vote or for whom to vote.
Radio host Dan O’Donnell testified that he repeatedly heard reports from family members of senior citizens who “are severely cognitively and developmentally impaired people who rely on their caregivers for everything. But those caregivers have betrayed their trust” by filling out ballots for them.
There is more fraud in absentee ballots and voter registration than in any other category, according to a News21 article.
In November 2020, the Texas Attorney General brought charges against State Assisted Living Facility social worker Kelly Reagan Brunner that registered 67 of her facility’s occupants to vote without their consent. Unlike Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has made a stated commitment to "ensuring a free and fair presidential election in the face of unprecedented voter fraud."
Kaul has signed a letter opposing any further investigation of voter fraud in his state, meaning that investigation of or charges against senior living facility employees for vote manipulation is unlikely.
