The mayor of Madison invited veterans, friends and families to honor veterans on Nov. 11 at the Madison Senior Center at 10 a.m.

Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway announced the event on Twitter saying, “Nov. 11 – A day to pay tribute to our veterans. Everyone is welcome from 10 to 11 a.m. @MadisonSrCenter. Join @StateRepHong, @SenKeldaRoys and @MayorOfMadison in honoring veterans.”

The event was held at the Madison Senior Center on Veterans Day. Attendees were invited to enjoy refreshments at the event. The program recognized and honored veterans with various speakers throughout.

Some of the featured speakers included Rep. Francesca Hong, Sen. Kelda Roys and Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway.

The Madison Senior Center, which was selected as the venue for the event, is an inclusive community aimed at enriching the lives of older adults. The center offers almost 3,000 events every year and welcomes 40,000 visitors. They offer activities such as book clubs and science courses and have catered to veterans and their families in the past.

The event hosted by the mayor was not the only event that honored veterans on the special day. Madison College also hosted an event featuring a number of speakers and attendees.

Madison has a long history of providing a variety of events to honor veterans on Veterans Day each year. There are also a large number of deals and discounts that were made available to veterans on the day throughout the city.
