All We Are Saying... is Give Bees a Chance

Bee

Monona City - WI issued the following announcement on May 20.

This May, Monona residents are encouraged to stop mowing their lawns, to benefit local bee and pollinator populations. City Council passed a resolution on April 18th, endorsing No Mow May in Monona. Allowing your lawn to grow in May gives spring pollinators better habitat, which is especially important for their health this time of year.

People all over the community are getting involved, including the Monona Parks & Rec department and Monona Grove School District! Parks & Rec will not be mowing Woodland Park and Outlet Mound this month, and various Monona Grove schools will be letting their lawns grow too.

Please remember, when you go back to mowing your lawn, keep grass cuttings out of the road so they don't go into the storm sewer and out to the lake.
