The public is invited to witness the City of Madison public test of election equipment taking place this weekend. The City of Madison deliberately schedules the public test on a Saturday to maximize accessibility for the community.

Before each election, the Clerk’s Office conducts thorough testing of DS200 tabulators to ensure accurate vote tabulation on Election Day.

Following the testing of each machine, Clerk’s Office personnel securely seal the ballot box and scanner with tamper-evident seals, each marked with unique serial numbers. These serial numbers are documented during the public test. On Election Day, poll workers verify the serial numbers as they open the polls.

The City of Madison public test of election equipment will be held at 2713 E. Washington Ave., at 9:00 am on Saturday, February 10. With only 16 polling places for the February Primary and only one office on each ballot, testing will conclude much earlier than it does for a citywide election.

Public participation is crucial in upholding the transparency and integrity of our election process. Join us this Saturday at 9:00 am to observe the public test and ensure that the City of Madison’s election equipment is ready for accurate vote counting on Election Day.

“It’s great to be able to watch democracy in action,” said Mayor Rhodes-Conway. “As part of our commitment to make our election process completely transparent, we are happy to show the public how our equipment works.”

The goal of the City Clerk’s Office is that each eligible voter will be able to cast a ballot and have that ballot count.
