Madison College is set to host a significant event featuring Dina Nina Martinez-Rutherford, the first openly transgender woman on Madison Common Council, in honor of Transgender Day of Visibility. The event is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, April 2, from 12-1 p.m. at Madison College Truax Campus, located at 1701 Wright St. Room D1630. It is free and open to the public.

Dina Nina, who is not only a small business owner and creative entrepreneur but also a dedicated public servant, was elected to the city council last April. Known for her commitment to finding inclusive solutions for all City of Madison residents, Dina Nina is deeply passionate about raising awareness about transgender and gender identity issues and promoting inclusion.

In line with her advocacy, Dina Nina founded Lady Laughs Comedy, a company focused on coaching, supporting, and celebrating funny women in comedy. Additionally, she actively contributes to the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advisory Committee for KW2 and collaborates with organizations like Abortion Access Front and independent clinics in the Midwest that offer reproductive and gender-affirming care.

The upcoming event at Madison College on April 2 will provide an opportunity for the community to hear from Dina Nina firsthand, further amplifying her efforts to educate and advocate for transgender rights and inclusion.
