The Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District has been awarded a $200,000 grant to modernize its transportation fleet with the addition of one clean school bus. This funding is made possible through the 2023 Clean School Bus Program, funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and championed by U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin.
The introduction of a clean school bus aligns with the district's mission to provide safe, efficient, and healthy transportation for students while reducing its carbon footprint and dependence on fossil fuels. Assistant Superintendent of Operations Jerrud Rossing expressed his gratitude, stating, "We are thrilled to be at the forefront of sustainable transportation for our students with the addition of a clean school bus, made possible through the generous funding. Our heartfelt thanks go to Senator Baldwin and everyone involved in championing for a greener future. This clean school bus is more than just a vehicle; it stands as a promise of a healthier, cleaner environment for our students to learn and grow."
The Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District is among 24 Wisconsin school districts benefiting from this round of funding. City of Middleton Mayor Emily Kuhn commented on the initiative: "Middleton is proud to support the Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District in their efforts to create a cleaner, healthier environment for our students with this $200,000 grant. This investment in sustainable transportation is a significant step toward reducing our carbon footprint and fostering a greener future for our community."
