Abigail Bertelsman, an Administrative Assistant to Business and Employee Services at MCPASD, recently traveled to Washington, D.C., representing the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network. Her objective was to advocate for increased funding for cancer research and promote a new blood test capable of detecting multiple types of cancer.

During her visit, Bertelsman engaged with members of both the House and Senate. She shared that the Multi-Cancer Early Detection (MCED) Blood Test is expected to be covered by most insurance plans once it gains FDA approval in January 2028.

Bertelsman expressed her dedication to advocating for cancer research and ethical practices. "I dream of a day when cancer is no longer a threat," she stated.
