Madison College is set to host a bilingual job fair at its Goodman South Campus on October 23, from 5 to 8 p.m. The event, which began just over a year ago, is anticipated to attract more than 300 job seekers and feature 30 employers.

The fair will include employers from various sectors such as hospitality, construction, nonprofit, government, finance, and healthcare. This initiative aligns with the increasing demand for bilingual employees in Dane County due to the growth of the Latino community. Organizer Nicole Sandoval, Latinx Community Liaison at Madison College, emphasizes that the event aims to connect job seekers with potential employers and resources.

"Because many attendees may be newcomers to the states, they're looking for different community resources. So, we've started incorporating some of our community partners such as Centro Hispano, The Latino Academy for Workforce Development and organizations working on domestic violence awareness," Sandoval explains. "The City of Madison Civil Rights Department will also participate so people understand their employee rights. The resources continue to grow."

Additionally, Madison College Access Navigators will provide support for attendees needing academic assistance like English as a Second Language classes or obtaining credits necessary for certification in professions they practiced in their home countries.

Those interested in attending can register at madisoncollege.edu/feriadetrabajo.
