Starting on Friday, October 18th, R.G. Huston's paving contractor will commence the final paving operations for the E Wilson Street and E Doty Street Reconstruction Project. Detour routes and closed roadway signs will be in place during the work.
On Friday, beginning at 7:00 a.m., the contractor will start surface paving of E Doty Street and resurfacing S Pinckney Street from King Street to E Doty Street. The work is expected to conclude by 5:00 p.m. One lane of eastbound traffic on Doty Street will remain open, though it will shift as crews pave the opposing lane. S Pinckney Street will stay closed from King Street to E Doty Street. Access to northbound Pinckney Street from Doty Street is not allowed.
The Wilson Street Parking Garage can be accessed via Doty Street. However, there may be brief periods when vehicles cannot enter or exit the NoVo apartment parking garage or enter the City Parking Garage via Doty Street, particularly between 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., and again between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
At 11:30 a.m., AT&T will adjust their underground facilities on E Wilson Street in preparation for Saturday's paving work, with completion expected by 1:00 p.m., after which normal traffic flow will resume.
Metro Buses will detour onto John Nolen Drive through Saturday. During this time, E Wilson Street from King to Pinckney Streets will operate temporarily as a two-way road to ensure access to Embassy Suites.
On Saturday, starting at 7:00 a.m., final surface paving on E Wilson Street from Pinckney through Martin Luther King Jr Blvd intersection is scheduled to begin, concluding around 1:00 p.m. Once finished, normal traffic flows on E Wilson Street will resume.
Metro Buses' detour onto John Nolen Drive continues through Saturday. As before, temporary two-way operation on E Wilson ensures local business access while access onto Pinckney from E Wilson remains restricted.
Wilson Garage users should enter via Doty; however, there might be brief restrictions during driveway paving operations on Wilson Street where vehicle exits are prohibited.
While access to the Wilson Garage is maintained during this project phase, parking elsewhere is recommended to avoid congestion and delays. Further information about other city-operated parking options is available on Madison's Parking Division website.
