A resolution introduced by Senator Julian Bradley and Representative Tony Kurtz has passed the Wisconsin State Senate. The measure calls for a constitutional convention to fix the number of U.S. Supreme Court justices at nine.

Senator Bradley emphasized the importance of this action in light of ongoing discussions in Congress about expanding the court. "As activist liberals in Congress debate packing the court, we must take action to protect the Supreme Court from radical activism," he stated. He argued that amending the Constitution would safeguard against attempts to alter the court's composition for political reasons. "The Supreme Court deals with the most foundational and controversial issues our nation faces — such as life, free speech, and the freedom of religion — and it shouldn't be able to be transformed at the whim of D.C. politicians."

The resolution, known as Senate Joint Resolution 58, will now proceed to the Assembly. It does not require approval from Governor Evers for Wisconsin to express its support for a constitutional convention aimed at setting a fixed number of Supreme Court justices.
