Madison College is set to host a pickleball tournament on February 1, 2025, at Pickle Pro Courts in Madison, Wisconsin. The event, held in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., invites participants to compete in same-gender or mixed doubles under standard pickleball rules. Spectators are welcome to enjoy the matches from ample viewing spaces.
Participants can register for a discounted fee of $50 until December 31, after which the price increases to $75 in 2025. Registration closes on January 20, 2024.
The day will feature refreshments and a post-tournament celebration with food from Beef Butter BBQ, a local favorite. Trophies will be awarded to the top three teams and the community organization that raises the most funds.
"This event celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s legacy," said Jimmy Cheffen, Madison College Community Impact Manager. "By honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., we embody the values of unity, service, and equality that he stood for."
Cheffen emphasized the dual purpose of the event as both a competition and a fundraiser. All proceeds will support community organizations partnered with Madison College.
"Your participation directly contributes to uplifting our local community," Cheffen added.
The tournament runs from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., hosted by the Madison College Division of College Culture and Climate at Pickle Pro Courts located at 2907 N. Sherman Ave., Madison, WI.
