Sun Prairie Area School District Superintendent Brad Saron (2023) | Sun Prairie Area School District

The Sun Prairie Area School District has announced two vacancies on its school board and is inviting community members to apply. The positions are open following the departure of Alwyn Foster and Lisa Goldsberry.

In accordance with SPASD Board Procedure and Wisconsin State Statute, one vacancy will be filled until the April 2025 election, while the other will be through April 2026.

Candidates interested in applying must submit a résumé and a letter of application by 5:00 pm on Monday, December 9, 2024. This deadline was extended from December 2 to accommodate both vacancies. Applications can be sent via email to cvemur@sunprairieschools.org or delivered in person to the District Support Center at 501 S. Bird Street, Sun Prairie, WI.

Applicants should limit their letters to no more than 700 words and include qualities they would bring to the board, three critical issues facing the district along with potential solutions, and specify whether they are applying for the short-term (four-month) position ending in April 2025 or the longer-term (16-month) role ending in April 2026. Applicants may also express interest in being considered for either position.

Interviews will take place on Monday, December 16, 2024, during an open meeting unless closed session is warranted. A majority vote by five remaining board members is required for appointment. The process aims to conclude by January 11, 2025.

After appointments are made, selected candidates will serve until successors are elected during the Spring 2025 election when four seats will be up for grabs. According to statute provisions, the fourth highest vote-getter will complete Mr. Foster’s term while top three candidates will secure three-year terms each.

For further information about applying, contact the Office of the Superintendent at 608-834-6502 or cvemur@sunprairieschools.org.
