The Wisconsin State Senate has approved a bill aimed at embedding federal liability protections for firearm manufacturers into state law. The legislation, authored by Senator Julian Bradley and Representative Gae Magnafici, seeks to safeguard gun manufacturers from certain lawsuits.

Senator Bradley expressed concerns over President Biden's policies regarding the firearms industry. "Guns don't kill people; criminals kill people," he stated. He criticized the President's approach, suggesting it could harm gun manufacturers instead of targeting violent offenders. "The State Senate just voted to ensure that activist judges in Wisconsin aren't given the opportunity President Biden wants to frivolously bankrupt firearm manufacturers."

Senate Bill 570 emphasizes accountability for individuals who commit crimes while protecting gun manufacturers involved in legal transactions with legal buyers. It aligns with the principles of the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act passed in 2005, which received bipartisan support at the federal level.

NBC News has reported on President Biden's intention to end liability protections for gun-makers, noting potential impacts on the industry.
