The Board of Education held a meeting on January 13, 2025, with several key topics addressed. The meeting opened with a report from Superintendent Dr. Dana Monogue, who reminded families and staff of the upcoming school closures for Martin Luther King Jr. Day and professional development on January 27, 2025.

The Director of Special Education, Cindy Malcheski, presented an overview of the district's services for students with disabilities. MCPASD serves over 800 students with disabilities, which is below the state average percentage. The department has implemented new initiatives such as an Intensive Support Specialist role and ParaByte for professional development. Future plans include developing a clearer vision for inclusive education and enhancing co-teaching practices.

During the open enrollment policy review, it was noted that last year saw a significant number of seats approved for open enrollment to maintain optimal class sizes amid declining resident enrollment post-COVID-19 pandemic. Assistant Superintendent Jerrud Rossing proposed 181 seats for regular education in grades 4K through sixth grade for the next school year, with no available spaces in special education programs.

A second reading of Board Policy I-C.5 was approved with amendments focusing on guidelines for board members' behavior to support effective governance.
