Rep. Mark Pocan, a U.S. Congressman representing Wisconsin's 2nd district, has been vocal on social media regarding his concerns about the influence of powerful figures and organizations in media and technology. His recent tweets highlight issues he perceives as threats to democratic discourse and transparency.

On January 22, 2025, Rep. Pocan expressed his disapproval of certain practices by major tech companies. He stated that "X is suspending accounts that Elon Musk disagrees with and promoting far-right content." Additionally, he noted that Facebook is ceasing its use of independent fact-checkers and alleged that TikTok is censoring phrases critical of former President Trump. He described these actions collectively as an "Algorithmic Aristocracy."

The following day, January 23, 2025, Rep. Pocan commented on employment decisions at CBS58. He acknowledged the work of journalists there but criticized management for potentially prioritizing the interests of influential individuals over their employees' welfare: "I hope management understands that firing their own employees for the benefit of far-right billionaires like Musk is a dangerous road to go down."

Later on January 23, Rep. Pocan reaffirmed his commitment to opposing policies associated with Donald Trump and wealthy allies while advocating for vulnerable populations in Wisconsin and nationwide: "My promise to you: I will continue to fight back against Trump and his billionaire buddies... We are going to stay organized and show that we truly are the party of FDR."
