The voting process for naming snowplows in Madison has commenced, as announced on the Wisconsin Salt Wise website. The public can participate in this unique election until February 24 at 8:00 pm.
Madison residents showed enthusiasm by submitting a total of 1,335 name suggestions for the snowplows. Due to the overwhelming response, an additional plow truck will be named to accommodate the many creative suggestions received.
Voting is conducted through a ranked-choice system on the Wisconsin Salt Wise website. Participants can select their top five choices for each of the six vehicles that need names. Each truck has 11 potential names from which voters can choose. Detailed instructions on how ranked-choice voting works are available on the Streets Division’s website under “About Ranked Choice Elections.”
Efforts have been made to prevent duplicate entries, and voters are encouraged to submit their votes only once for all plows.
Photos of the trucks and candidate names are accessible on both the Streets Division's snowplow naming site and the Wisconsin Salt Wise page where voting takes place.
