The snowplow naming election in Wisconsin is nearing its conclusion, with the final day for voting set for Monday, February 24 at 8:00 pm. The public has the opportunity to choose names for six snowplows, and participation has been significant, with over 2,000 people already casting their votes.

The Parks Division's bike path plow might be named after "Gaga or Tay Tay, or maybe even the deputy director of the Parks Division of Pawnee, Indiana." Meanwhile, potential names for the Streets Division plows include references to "Bob Uecker’s memorable lines," a "classic video game cheat code," "the Minister of Defense," a "pygmy hippopotamus," or a nod to "a certain Badgers football tradition."

The voting process is open to everyone and utilizes ranked choice voting. Participants can select up to five favorite candidates for each of the six trucks being named. Interested voters can cast their votes on the Wisconsin Salt Wise website.

Wisconsin Salt Wise is behind this initiative as part of its efforts to reduce salt pollution in local water bodies. They offer resources on their website for various groups including homeowners and salt applicator professionals.

For more information about the trucks and how to vote, individuals are encouraged to visit the Streets Division’s plow naming website.
