The City of Madison is inviting the public to observe a test of its election equipment scheduled for this Saturday. The Clerk's Office has chosen a weekend date to ensure accessibility for community members.
Prior to every election, the Clerk’s Office rigorously tests its DS200 tabulators. This process is essential to confirm that votes will be counted accurately on Election Day.
Mayor Rhodes-Conway encourages public participation by asking, “Interested in learning how our election equipment works? As part of the City’s commitment to complete transparency, you have an opportunity to take a look at the equipment and learn how it works this Saturday.”
Following each machine's test, election staff will secure the ballot boxes and scanners using tamper-evident seals with unique serial numbers. These numbers are recorded on each polling location’s Inspectors’ Statement. On Election Day, poll workers will verify these serial numbers when opening the polls.
