During a recent meeting on April 21, the Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District (MCPASD) Board of Education bid farewell to Sheila Hibner, their outgoing Board President. Described as a mentor and leader, Hibner received heartfelt tributes from several board members.
Hibner, who has roots in Middleton, joined the Board in July 2021 and previously held the position of Board Treasurer. Her tenure as Board President left a notable impact on the district. "The amount of heart you bring to the Board, the way you connect with people – I really appreciate how much you care and it shows,” remarked Board Treasurer Catherine Kells.
With an extensive career in education, Hibner worked at Monona Grove High School for nearly 32 years and later served as Middleton High School’s Career and Technical Education Coordinator. Reflecting on her service, Hibner stated, “I appreciate all of the relationships forged over the past four years. Please know that I will always be a champion for our schools.”
Board members highlighted Hibner's effectiveness in fostering unity and collaboration. Marni Ginsberg noted, “You brought us together as a Board in a way that I don’t know many other people could have.” Board Vice President Bob Green added his appreciation, “You’ve been such a wonderful Board Member and outstanding Board President.”
Jim Coursey, another Board Member, praised Hibner's inclusive approach, saying, “It was because of how warm, how outgoing, and how really caring you’ve been about bringing new members onto the Board.”
Superintendent Dr. Dana Monogue expressed gratitude for Hibner’s collaboration, stating, “I rely heavily on a Board President, and I can’t tell you how appreciative I am for your humor, for your listening ear, for how responsive you are.”
As Hibner transitions to her next endeavors, the district wishes her well and thanks her for her service.
