A professor at the University of Wisconsin–Madison is working to find ways to increase public trust in science and public health. The effort comes as reductions in federal funding are making this research more difficult.

Cuts to federal budgets have affected many areas of scientific research, including those focused on improving communication between scientists and the public. This has raised concerns about how effectively researchers can address issues related to misinformation and skepticism toward science.

The professor’s work aims to identify strategies that help bridge gaps between scientific communities and the general population. These efforts are seen as important for addressing challenges such as vaccine hesitancy and resistance to public health guidance.
