Madison College's Office of Equity and Inclusion invites you to celebrate Juneteenth to commemorate African American freedom and to emphasize education and achievement. Here are some of the events going on in our area:
VIRTUAL CELEBRATION OF FREEDOM
Join Madison College, Waukesha College and Gateway Technical College on Thursday, June 17, from noon to 1:30 p.m. to celebrate Juneteenth with the TRUE Skool organization of Milwaukee. The celebration includes performances by poets, drummers, dancers, as well as presentations, creative visuals and live discussions. Here's the link to the Zoom event.
CELEBRATION IN THE PARK
The Kujichagulia Center for Self-Determination is sponsoring a Juneteenth parade and community celebration at Penn Park on Saturday, June 19. The parade runs from 11 a.m. to noon, with the celebration continuing at the park until 4 p.m. Penn Park is located at 2101 Fisher St. in Madison.
