Catholic Vote President Brian Burch said parents should be warned of the "horrific reality" of the transgender movement and the potential harms of gender affirming treatments.
"The truth is reaching more people about the dangers of what the supporters of transgenderism are pushing on American children,” Burch told Madison Reporter. “We all need to be force multipliers, as the expression goes, so our family members and friends are made aware of the horrific reality of this evil movement."
American Thinker writer Andrea Widburg reported the push from leftists is that gender affirmation treatments like hormone therapy and surgery are the best way to go when an individual identifies as transgender, despite medical data showing numerous potential risks of such treatments.
Widburg writes, "heartbroken parents have been told that, if they don’t do this 'affirmation,' their children will commit suicide. Except, as with everything else 'trans,' the suicide threat is a lie and a very evil one at that."
A study out of the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston which looked at individuals who underwent gender affirming treatments at 56 healthcare organizations within the U.S. showed that patients were 12.12 times more likely to commit suicide than individuals who did not undergo gender affirming treatments.
According to Widburg, that staggering risk "should cause every single 'gender-affirming' care program to stop immediately,” and instead proper mental health treatments should be given to impacted individuals.
Madison, Wisconsin-based Catholic Vote is an advocacy organization that wants to “inspire every Catholic in America to live out the truths of our faith in public life,” according to the group’s website. Founded in 2008, its president is Brian Burch.
