On the Fourth of July, Madison College celebrated the birth of Gary "Big Dog" Breneman, marking the start of a yearlong celebration of his 50th year with Madison College Athletics. The festivities began with Big Dog's Annual Alumni Golf & Bags Classic on August 12.
Gary Breneman started his journey at Madison College in 1975 after graduating from Pardeeville High School. He initially served as a student manager for the basketball and baseball teams and later worked in various roles, including in the school's cafeteria and bookstore. Over the years, he earned the nickname "Big Dog" and received numerous awards for his dedication and service.
In 1991, Breneman was inducted into the Madison College Athletics Hall of Fame. He also received the Doug Redsten Memorial Service Award at the 2010 athletics banquet for his loyalty and support.
The celebration includes Big Dog's Annual Alumni Golf & Bags Classic at Pioneer Pointe Golf Club in Verona, Wisconsin. Participants can use discount code BIGDOG50 to save $50 on a foursome until July 14. Other events will commemorate Breneman's milestone achievement alongside women's volleyball, men's and women's basketball, and baseball.
Madison College Athletics encourages WolfPack nation to submit congratulatory messages for celebratory videos on YouTube and social media. Additionally, they are launching a $50 for 50 Years Scholarship Drive in 2024-25 to raise funds for student-athlete scholarships. Donors contributing $50 will receive a complimentary Big Dog T-shirt and entry into a drawing for a free foursome at next year's golf classic.
Madison College Athletics looks forward to celebrating Gary "Big Dog" Breneman throughout the school year and invites everyone impacted by him to join in these events.
