The public is invited to observe the City of Madison's public test of election equipment this Saturday. The City of Madison schedules the public test on the weekend to make it accessible for the community.

“Interested in learning how our election equipment works?” said Mayor Rhodes-Conway. “As part of the City’s commitment to complete transparency, you have an opportunity to take a look at the equipment and learn how it works this Saturday.”

Before each election, the Clerk’s Office conducts thorough testing of its DS200 tabulators to verify that votes will be tallied accurately on Election Day.

The public test will begin at 9:00 a.m. at 2713 E. Washington Ave. on Saturday, August 3. Public participation contributes to the transparency and integrity of our election process.

After testing each machine, Clerk’s Office personnel secure the ballot box and scanner with tamper-evident seals that contain unique serial numbers. The serial numbers are documented on each polling location’s Inspectors’ Statement. On Election Day, poll workers verify these serial numbers as they open the polls.

The goal of the City Clerk’s Office is that each eligible voter will be able to cast a ballot and have that ballot counted.
