Traffic Engineering will initiate a test for a vehicular traffic diverter on East Mifflin Street at North Paterson Street starting Monday, October 14. The project aims to enhance the East Mifflin Bicycle Boulevard, which serves as a key connection for residents on Madison's near eastside and offers an alternative route to East Washington Avenue.

During the test period, westbound vehicles will not be allowed to continue past North Paterson Street on East Mifflin Street. Vehicles traveling west can turn left or right at North Paterson Street. Bicyclists and pedestrians will still have access in all directions.

The completion of this diverter test is anticipated by Winter 2024.

The City encourages public feedback on the test through November via an online survey. Additional information about the East Mifflin Bike Boulevard Improvement recommendations and the traffic diverter plan is available for those interested.
