The Madison City Clerk’s Office is urging residents to participate in National Voter Education Week, which runs from October 7 to October 11. The week-long event aims to enhance voter awareness and engagement through a series of daily activities.
On Monday, the focus is on voter registration. Citizens are encouraged to verify their registration status at https://MyVote.wi.gov. Those who have changed their address since last registering must update their information. Online registration is available for individuals with a Wisconsin driver license or ID, provided their address is current with the DMV. Alternatively, voters can register at any Madison Public Library by presenting proof of address.
Tuesday's theme centers on understanding the ballot. Voters are advised to familiarize themselves with the candidates and referenda questions by accessing a sample ballot through the "What’s On My Ballot" feature at https://MyVote.wi.gov.
Wednesday encourages voters to make a voting plan. The Clerk’s Office offers a checklist designed to help voters determine their preferred voting method.
On Thursday, participants are invited to learn about election processes through an "Elections 101" video series produced by the Wisconsin Elections Commission, which covers procedures and security measures.
Finally, Friday focuses on community outreach. Voters are encouraged to engage family and friends in verifying their registration status, understanding their ballots, planning how they will vote, and learning about election procedures.
The overarching aim of these initiatives is that every eligible voter can cast a ballot and ensure it is counted accurately.
"The goal of the City Clerk’s Office is that each eligible voter will be able to cast a ballot and have that ballot counted."
